The speared swordfish is the most common shark species in Ohio, but it is not legally caught in the state, and its only legally caught by anglers.

So, how do you catch one?

Well, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, in partnership with the Ohio State University and other partners, have created a program to help anglers get a speased swordfish in Ohio.

This is part of a larger effort to help educate anglers about spearing swordfish.
