The state of Minnesota has approved a new fishing license to allow bass fishing, and it has caused some confusion.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources said it’s issued the license, called the Bass Fishing License, and is in the process of revoking it.
The new license was set to go into effect in January.
However, the Minnesota Fish and Wildlife Department said the agency was forced to suspend it due to a lack of permits for fishing in the state.
Minnesota’s fishing regulations have been under a major review in recent months, with many areas in the Great Lakes state seeing a surge in recreational fishing.
Last month, the department said it would close a section of its website that would allow recreational fishing to resume, which has been a requirement for several years.
The department said the closure was due to increased concerns about invasive species in the area.
