By the numbers: The number of fish names we know about in Canada varies greatly from country to country.

In fact, there are more than 4,000 fish names in Canada today.

Some are still unknown, but others are familiar to us.

The Canadian Fish and Wildlife Service (CFWS) has been collecting information on fish names and their origins for more than 60 years.

It has also been compiling a database of fish species in Canada.

And we know that this information has been used for many different purposes.

Today, we take a look at the fish names of Canada, and how we know where fish are named.
